10:30 AM What's Joy Got To Do With It: Discussing Black Girl Joy
Have you ever struggled in embracing the beauty, brains and self confidence that is emboldened in the Black female form? Historically, Black women have been negatively portrayed in the media for the things they say and do, yet now we see society continuously appropriating these same aspects of Black female culture. Rather than internalizing the stereotypes or letting others benefit from our acclaim, the Black Girl Joy movement has become a lively stream of consciousness that influences clothing, music, hair and the arts.

First, you claim a seat at the table. Then, you run the show. This main stage panel will feature Black women who are powerhouses in their careers. Key topics that are emphasized are the life of a Black woman in the executive seat, strategies for navigating bureaucracy and life lessons on remaining true to one’s ideals and values. The women on this panel will share their experience and insights into the world of Black entertainment, providing attendees with inspiration and motivation to play the game with the end in mind.
